Naka-Kon is a Kansas City, Missouri based anime convention. We celebrate Japanese animation and the influence anime has in the Midwest and around the globe by educating people from all walks of life in many diverse facets of popular and traditional Japanese culture.
Naka-Kon features a wide range of Events that appeal to both young and old otaku, or fans. Traditional features include dozens of instructional and educational Panels and presentations by Naka-Kon staff members, knowledgeable volunteers, and many experts including prominent American anime voice actors and manga artists; themed Game Shows such as Shonen Jump Millionaire and Anime Match Game which test players' knowledge of Japanese culture; Contests such as the Anime Music Video contest and the Cosplay contest; and anime-themed NightVision Dance Parties in the evenings.
In addition to these exciting events, Naka-Kon boasts a spacious Exhibit Hall where otaku can go wild purchasing a myriad of items. Our vendors' room contains both entertaining and educational merchandise ranging from anime figurines to Japanese language manga. Naka-Kon also hosts a large Gaming Room featuring games of Japanese style and origin such as Dance Dance Revolution and Super Smash Bros. In addition, several anime showings rooms are available 24 hours a day during the convention to allow con-goers to experience new anime series and escape the hustle and bustle of convention life. Subtitled anime rooms provide congoers the opportunity to become accustomed the sound of the Japanese language and learn words and phrases for everyday use.
